Country Roads Resort

This newly turned senior citizen couple was looking for a quick getaway to celebrate their wedding anniversary in a good resort less than a 2 hour drive from Kolkata. Unfortunately everything was sold out for the 5th and 6th of February, it being the wedding season.
Hence truth be told, The Country Roads resort in Raghudevpur was not our choice but an only option. It too was booked for back to back wedding events, but somehow decided to extend their hospitality to us. The manager's ringtone was the John Denver song, but that wasn't reassurance enough.
But so happens that this was a decision we shall never regret, but simply cherish for the fond memories our two day stay gave us.
My better half has worse mobility issues and to compound the problem, the poolside view room we got was on the first floor and there's no lift. Not a problem. The old bride got a palki ride on a wheelchair carried by smiling staff, more than once! Despite the pressure of handling the big wedding events, we never felt neglected, as the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable.
The magement gifted us a complimentary toto (e-rickshaw) ride to check out the huge property with over a hundred well-maintained country homes.
Seeing us wear matching clothes and pose for photos, a staff member caught on, and confided in the manager. Sure enough at 8 pm there was a knock on our door and three staff members came in smiling ear to ear, bearing a chocolate cake and a bouquet of flowers. We were overwhelmed with such warmth in their hospitality.
Having a good time in a place needs much more than infrastructure, food, activities and hot showers. It is the human connect that makes or breaks hospitality. This is where Country Roads scored high during our stay there.

I recently attended a wedding at Country Roads Resort and it was an amazing experience. We recently attended a wedding event of my sister at Country Roads, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. For a venue that promotes itself as a premium resort, the level of service we faced was far below acceptable standards.

The catering staff were shockingly unprofessional in both behaviour and attitude. Their communication was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in basic hospitality etiquette. Instead of assisting guests, many of them seemed uninterested and poorly trained, which created unnecessary frustration during the event.

Mismanagement was visible throughout the entire resort. There was no proper coordination, no responsible person to address issues, and the overall arrangement felt chaotic. Whether it was service timing, guest handling, or basic event support, everything appeared disorganised and neglected.

A wedding is meant to be a memorable and joyful occasion, but the experience at Country Roads left a very negative impression on everyone present. For the price and reputation they claim to have, the service delivered was far below expectations. I hope the management seriously looks into improving their staff behaviour, hospitality quality, and overall event management so that future guests do not face the same unpleasant experience.

My sister got married at Country Roads in November 2025 at Country Roads Resort. From decor, service, rooms, and the unforgettable food, everything was we above and beyond our expectations. I cannot thank the staff and everyone working at the resort enough for making the 2 day event so special and memorable for my family and I. Special mention to Santu da for always being a ring away and managing the entire event so smoothly.

How can I start?

This is not what I would call a resort…

No shops or ATM on site.
No transportation to the city or the airport (they would not even offer to book us a taxi)
Their payment terminal is “disabled for international cards”
Double check your bills, since the waiter tried to charge us 1000INR above price.
It is impossible to reach the local carts, and when I asked for towels, the response I got was “you already have towels”

I would not recommend it to foreign tourists.

Something nice I could tell is that they have us a lunch bag on departure, it was a nice gesture.
